He immediately assessed that a very minor and nearly painless tendon release of my toe would alleviate the problem of the nail growing in (It has not recurred in over 18 months). I just returned when I had a similar issues with another toe, and Dr. Tumen was VERY honest in saying the results might not be as successful since I had more arthritis in this toe, but I just had the procedure and it was very painless and seems to also be very successful in alleviating the problem.
